The "Song for the Lonely" poll!

It's the last poll of the year, fellow fans! You have one week to decide which outfit will be paired with Cher's 2001 hit "A Song for the Lonely" from the album Living Proof, her latest so far.

1st is Cher's winter dress up as she walks around the streets of New York in the music video. 2nd, 3rd and 4th are alternate outfits she wore throughout The Farewell Tour -the tour which followed the release of the album Living Proof- to perform the song in the opening segment. And 5th is the outfit she wore at the Colosseum show in Vegas for that song. It was another Farewell outfit for "Song for the Lonely" slightly updated with a new headdress.

Which one of these five compelling Cher outfits will be chosen to embody "A Song for the Lonely"? It's for you to decide, fellow fans! As always, you can vote at the top of the sidebar on the left. The poll runs for one week so make your choice and talk about it to your friends and other Cher fans! ...and stay tuned for new artworks!

The "Shoop Shoop" results

The mermaid is saved from the sushi roll, fellow fans! You have made it the grand winner of the "Shoop Shoop" poll which ended just last night, giving it a total of 40 votes against 35 for the dotted pink outfit with 60's style hairdo. Good choice, fellow fans! The mermaid will make another colorful and extravagant artwork in the playing card deck!

As always, stay tuned for new wallpapers and probably a new poll in the next few days!

"After All" wallpaper

Greetings, fellow fans! There's a new image waiting for you in the wallpaper section! It's Cher as the Ice Queen just in time for Christmas season! She wore this costume for the "After All" segment of the Colosseum show in Vegas, making an enchanting entrance sailing onto the stage on a gondola with a romantic mist surrounding her. The costume was a newer version of a similar winter queen dress up she had for the Heart of Stone and Love Hurts tours.

As a last reminder, don't forget to vote for your favorite "Shoop Shoop" outfit! The poll ends tonight! Merry Christmas, fellow fans!

The "Shoop Shoop" Poll

A new poll is running this week, fellow fans! Remember the delightful movie from 1990 called "Mermaids"? It starred Cher as the unconventional single mother raising her two girls (Winona Ryder and Christina Ricci) in the 1960's and flirting with a local shop owner (Bob Hoskins). It also featured a cover of "The Shoop Shoop Song" by Cher, which ever since became a favorite in her latest tours and compilation albums.

This week's poll is to determine which outfit will be paired with this specific song for the playing cards. 1st is the mermaid costume that Cher's character wore for a party in the movie and which was used for promotional photoshoots. 2nd is another but more casual dress up seen in the movie and also used for promotional purposes. That's pretty much all there is to say! Now, time to vote, fellow fans!

"Believe" Poll Results

How cruel?! leaving you on the edge of your seat for 4 long days after the exciting conclusion of the "Believe" poll! Have you been biting your nails waiting to find out which outfit would be chosen to represent Cher's all-time greatest hit, fellow fans?

Two costumes shared the top spot as your favorite "Believe" outfit when the poll came to an end last Wednesday. Among all 5 choices that were on the line, it's the red-head Colosseum show outfit and the music video outfit that got the most votes.

After debating for a while, I decided to opt for the latter but using the pose of the former. ...So there will still be a little bit of both in the final result! You can see a more definitive sketch above between the two photos.

Stay tuned for the next poll, fellow fans! Do you have a song in mind? "Shoop Shoop"? "All or Nothing"? ...Surprise me with a suggestion!

The outfit is from the live music video made in 1973 during the Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour and Cher reprised the look in her latest show at the Colosseum. This number one remains one of Cher's signature song today, so its iconic outfit is certain to earn a spot in the playing card deck!

The Beat Goes On

You will remember this sparkling mini dress if you have been lucky enough to visit Las Vegas for Cher's latest show at the Colosseum. She would pop on stage to belt out "The Beat Goes On", a hit song from the Sonny & Cher era. ...And today, you can get it as a wallpaper!

I'm very excited to start working on the cowboy artworks this week-end! In the meantime, don't miss out the new "Believe" poll! It seems to be a tight fight between the 4th and 5th outfit so far!

The "Believe" poll

"Do you believe in life after love?"

It's time to find the most memorable, beloved, striking outfit to highlight the biggest hit of Cher's entire career: "Believe"!

Get ready for you have enough to be overwhelmed by all your choices. This song served for the big encore to each of Cher's latest concert tours and each time she strutted in some stunning outfits to honor her all-time greatest hit (...so far!)

1st is her dress up for the song during the Do you Believe? tour in 1999 which promoted the newly released "Believe" album. 2nd was for the grande finale of The Farewell Tour which ran from 2002 to 2005. 3rd and 4th were both worn during her recent comeback at the Colosseum of Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. And last but not least, the 5th evokes the "Believe" music video in which Cher had two different outfits. It combines the fancy headdress of one and the rock star dress up of the other, just as Cher did for the 26th Annual American Music Awards in 1999.

Time to vote, fellow fans! Your participation to the last poll has been a tremendous help! Thanks to all for your comments and votes. The blog has reached 20 fellow members so far and gathered 87 voters for the last poll. Woot woot! The numbers keep growing!

"Jesse James" poll results

4 days and 87 votes later, the "Jesse James" poll has come down to a tie! 43 fellow fans favored the two lovely outfits pictured above, while the remaining outfits (shown below) both gathered 31 votes each. Thanks to all for your participation and comments! The two winning outfits will go back to the drawing board to be completed and included in the Cher Playing Cards!

Love Hurts

This artwork was done a short while ago but had yet to be unveiled. Here it is! Cher in the magnificent blue gown with sequined floral design... Over 20 years after wearing it for the Celebration at Caesar's Palace show in 1980, Cher came back with an updated version for the Colosseum show to perform "Love Hurts" and "The Way of Love" as well. It was also used for the Vanity Fair photoshoot in 2010 during the promotion of the movie Burlesque. This is one magnificent Bob Mackie creation that will surely be included in the card deck!

...One day left for the "cowboy" outfit poll, fellow fans! Anxious to see the results? It ends this evening and another poll will follow very shortly. Stay tuned!

December 06, 2011

Latest artwork: The Way of Love

This one is freshly done from this week-end. It's Cher in the glamorous purple dress during the Farewell Tour as she sang "The Way of Love", one of those sorrowful songs that were featured on each of her latest concert tours. You can get it as a wallpaper today!

And remember to cast your vote for your favorite "cowboy" Cher outfits! The poll runs until this Thursday, December 8!

Apologies... False start

Hey, fellow fans! I noticed the poll would only let you choose one outfit so I had to reinitialize it to fix this problem. My deepest apologies for the inconvience. I will let the poll run for an extra day to make up for it. Thanks for your understanding!

...But most greatly, thanks for your participation!

"Strong Enough" poll results

The "Strong Enough" poll is now officially over! After one week of voting and debating over 4 different outfits, you have proclaimed Cher's "Strong Enough" video outfit to be the big winner! It collected a staggering 43% of the votes, followed by the red-head dress up from the Farewell Tour with a respectable 34%.

Here's an updated sketch for the winner outfit. Little more dynamic than the first pose so that it may fit better with the uplifting mood of the song. ...and also to give it more presence on the playing card (but that's design matter. I'll bother with that). By the way, have you seen the new icon in the address bar at the top of your internet browser? Sassy, isn't it!

Now it's time to vote on the next poll, fellow fans: it's cowboy Cher!

December 03, 2011

The "Jesse James" poll

Get ready for the new poll, fellow fans! You get to choose your 2 favorite cowboyesque outfits from Cher's wardrobe to showcase hits such as "Just Like Jesse James" and "A Cowboy's Work is Never Done".

1st we have Cher's dress up for the "Just Like Jesse James" song during the Love Hurts tour in 1992. 2nd was seen on stage in 1980 for a country medley performance during a special show called Celebration at Caesar's Palace. The funky 3rd outfit is from a photoshoot for Malibu Cowboy boots in 2009. And at last, the 4th outfit was used during both Farewell and Colosseum shows to perform various ballad songs.

You'll have to be fast on your guns this week because the poll will run for four days only. So take a glimpse at all choices taken from your suggestions over the last two weeks and cast your vote, fellow fans!

Thanks for all the suggestions that were sent! Head-to-toe picture was a major requirement so some outfits had to be discarded unfortunately...

The Music's No Good

Good week-end, fellow readers! There's only one day left to vote on the "Strong Enough" poll if you haven't already done so. And once you're done, visit the wallpaper section. The newest addition is Cher's cosmos emperess outfit from the very sci-fi video for "The Music's No Good Without You".

All I Really Want to Do

Another new wallpaper is available today! This one commemorates the title track of Cher's very first album "All I Really Want to Do" released in 1965. This retro look was first designed for the Farewell Tour and it was brought back for the Vegas show at the Colosseum. ...Enjoy!

The King's in Memphis!

Gotcha! Of course it's not the King. It's our comical Cher playing dress up, and you can get it as a wallpaper today!

The first time Cher sported this look was for her version of "Walking in Memphis" in 1995 and she later reprised it for the VH1 Divas concert in Las Vegas in 2002. Other headliners for this show were Céline Dion, Shakira and Anastacia among others, but it's Cher who wowed the crowd during the special Elvis tribute finale when she came out dressed up as the King to belt out "Heartbreak Hotel".

Before or after jumping to the wallpaper page, remember to cast your vote for the "Strong Enough" poll and share your suggestions on your favorite western Cher outfit!

The "Strong Enough" Poll

It's time for the second outfit poll! This week you must choose which of these four outfits should be paired with the song "Strong Enough".

The 1st outfit is from the original "If I Could Turn Back Time" music video we all remember so well. The 2nd outfit is probably more embedded into people's mind than the first. Cher wore this outfit for her latest shows' finale (Farewell and Colosseum) to perform "Strong Enough" followed by "...Turn Back Time". She also made a big impact when she appeared with it at the 2010 Video Music Awards alongside Lady Gaga. The 3rd outfit was seen in the music video of "Strong Enough". And finally, Cher wore the 4th outfit to sing this same song during the finale of her Do you Believe? tour in 1999.

Which Cher outfit do you prefer for "Strong Enough"? (The poll is at the top of the left sidebar. Comments are welcome as well). At the same time, it will also determine the outfit for "Turn Back Time"... It's either the first or second, but surely the second outfit will have a spot somewhere in the playing cards.

New wallpapers!

Two fresh wallpapers have been added to the collection this week-end. There will be several new ones in the upcoming days. Today, treat yourself with the brand new Dark Lady artwork or Welcome to Burlesque!

It's a gypsy!

...It's a tramp! It's a thief! NO! It's SuperCHER! This is the latest artwork done, based on an outfit worn during her three year run at the Caesar's Palace Colosseum in Las Vegas. It's one of those colorful and excentric outfit you can't forget once you've seen her wear it to sing "Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves".

More drawing for me for the upcoming week-end and there will be new wallpapers too! So I'm asking you: Which artwork would you like to get on your desktop? Go see the Card Coaster and write your request in the comments of this post.

And many thanks for the suggestions regarding western Cher outfits! There's still time to share your ideas on the previous post. ...with a link to a head-to-toe picture greatly appreciated!

While you were busy answering last week's Dark Lady poll, I made you some treats and added a new wallpaper section to the blog. There will be more to come! As for the results for the poll, it's the original dress from the Sonny & Cher show that turned up as the favorite. You can see the performance from 1973 here. So you fellow Cher fans have spoken, it will be in the deck!

I will post another poll probably tomorrow. Stay tuned! Your comments and participation are always greatly appreciated.

The Dark Lady poll

The Cher Playing Cards is asking for fans' opinion! Considering the extensive wardrobe of our beloved diva, it is sometime a hard task to choose the perfect outfit to pair with each music hit. This week, the question is: "Which outfit makes the greatest Dark Lady!" In the run, we have #1- Cher's black veiled dress from the Sonny & Cher Show when she sang the famous single. #2- a witch outfit worn for a special Halloween performance during her Love Hurts tour in the early 90's, and #3- a black feathered extravaganza designed by Bob Mackie for a Cher Show in the 70's.

So which of these outfit makes the perfect Dark Lady, fellow fans? Answer the new poll (at the top of the left handside)!

Take Me Home

It's been a great productive week-end! Plenty of new artworks completed so it's been a hard choice deciding which one to show you today. ...I want to keep some as a surprise too! So here today is the glamorous "Take Me Home" outfit from the Farewell Tour! I'll update the Card Coaster with the new artworks soon.

And for the next entry, it will be a movie theme! I will show you one artwork between "Welcome to Burlesque" and "The Shoop Shoop Song" from the movie Mermaids. You have to vote for the one you want to see and I'll reveal it when I will have 10 votes from blog members! So tell about it to your friends!!! The poll is at the top of the left sidebar.

Cheers!

The Disco Hits

Next on the list is disco time! Cher graced the 70's with some good disco songs like "Take Me Home" so I chose the outfit she wore to cover that song during her Farewell Tour and the Vegas show (sketch on the right).

The other sketch is based on a picture from 1978 taken during a photoshoot. Cher has an awesome pose and shows lots of energy on that picture. I really want to recapture it! However, I wasn't sure which song I could pair it with so I scouted my iPod and fell on "Bad Love" this week-end, her last Disco song which she made in 1980 for the movie Foxes. Pretty good song! ...What do you think? Do you have other suggestions?

A Different Kind Of Love Song

Just finished the artwork from "Living Proof". I will put it in the Card Coaster soon and I will have more sketches to show you as well. Stay tuned! By the way, I just made myself a twitter account @IveBastrash! Going to sleep now... Goodnight!

Living Proof

These are two sketches I did yesterday. The first outfit is from the album cover of Living Proof released in 2011. The second is based on Cher's outfit for the song "Song For The Lonely" during her Farewell Tour which ran from 2002 to 2005.

I'm not sure which song I should pair with the first outfit... Any suggestions? Here's a reminder of some other tracks on that album: "Alive Again", "When The Money's Gone", "A Different Kind Of Love Song", "Love One Another" -and what is that song "The Look"?? Just found out from Wikipedia that it was only released on the Japanese version of the album! Cooool!

Leave your suggestion below!

It's the 1st post!

Hey fellow Cher fans! I started this blog so that you can follow the progression of my project: a playing card deck honoring the awesome pop diva that is Cher! Hopefully it can get printed and made available to all of you once it's done, so stay tuned and feel free to comment as much as you like. It would be nice to have lots of "fellow members" following this blog so tell your friends and other fans about it! And don't forget to become a member as well yourself. I'll feed the blog regularly to make it enjoyable for you. There's still lots of work for me ahead so I'll make this short and go back to the sketch pad. I'm looking forward to all your encouragement!

Cheers!
